The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced an 18 percent fare increase across its entire Bus Reform Initiative (BRI) scheme.
The increase is expected to take effect from Monday, February 17, across all routes.
In a notice on its X handle yesterday, LAMATA stated the reason for the increase in the cost of operations and the need to ensure that buses keep running to guarantee public movement around Lagos.
Meanwhile, Lagosians have started complaining about the increase, questioning why the agency has not switched to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as an alternative to fuel.
