A Lagos-based Women group, Odinmma Umuada Igbo Prestigious Women Foundation, led by President and Founder Chief Mrs. Violet Uche Obiora, has announced its commitment to supporting the Lagos State government in enhancing child education. This initiative aims to remove approximately one hundred child-hawkers from the streets of Lagos, providing them with educational opportunities instead.
During the foundation’s formal rollout and public awareness ceremony, Chief Mrs. Obiora emphasized the importance of public assistance, particularly in the light of the country’s current economic challenges. She highlighted the foundation’s unique approach, which includes covering medical expenses for women and children during routine hospital visitations and offering free legal support to unjustly imprisoned women.
The foundation’s initiatives also focus on economic empowerment for disadvantaged women and girls, skill acquisition, and support for orphanages and indigent individuals.
In recognition of its efforts, the foundation presented a posthumous award to late Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, who played a pivotal role in conceptualizing the rollout ceremony but unfortunately did not live to witness it.
Prince Tony Nwakeze, in a discussion with WISEMEN correspondent, encouraged government and private sector entities to view the foundation as development partners, deserving of support and consideration due to their impactful and result-oriented activities.
The ceremony, chaired by Chief Dr. Ngozi Emechebe, drew a diverse audience, including government representatives, private sector leaders, Senator Ubah’s family, traditional Rulers, schools and various community organizations. Chief Chiedu Maduike (Anyafulugo) led a long roll call of Guests at the event.
